Apparently it is National Peanut Butter day in America today, which is a rather neat coincidence, as Anya’s next challenge is to make some. Nut butters are incredibly easy to make at home, and are vastly superior to the ones you find on supermarket shelves.
Earlier this week, I made three nut butters of my own – peanut butter, cashew nut butter and finally a blended peanut and chocolate butter. All three or delicious and I don’t expect them to last for long! Over on my blog, you can find full instructions for making all three. Naturally, I don’t expect Anya to slavishly follow my example – there are many varieties of nuts, and many things you can add to a basic nut butter to achieve different flavour combinations, so I do hope she experiments and comes up with some interesting results!
This challenge is in three parts.
Make a basic peanut butter (smooth or crunchy, as you prefer).
Make a butter using a nut other than peanuts.
Make a flavoured butter that is a blend of a nut butter and one or more other ingredients.
